How Liancheng Wood Industry — a Wood Flooring Manufacturer in China Since 1983 — Shipped 2,340 m² of Engineered Oak to a Rotterdam Hotel Group in 80 Days
三代木业人:1983 年建厂那天的南浔
In 80 days — from the signed purchase order on 18 December 2025 to the vessel sailing from Ningbo Port on 8 March 2026 — our factory produced, inspected and exported 2,340 m² of engineered European oak at a measured average moisture content of 9.2% and a tongue-and-groove tolerance of ±0.1 mm.
Liancheng Wood Industry (Zhejiang) Co., Ltd. has been making wood flooring in Nanxun, Huzhou, Zhejiang Province, China since 1983. Internationally we sell under the brand Saga Villas (世家华墅). Three generations of the same family have run this plant — 43 years, 400 employees, a 60,000 m² production base, and more than 400 containers of flooring exported every year. The Rotterdam hotel order filled two of them.
This article explains exactly how that order was made, checked, packed and shipped, because that is the part overseas procurement managers, interior designers and project contractors cannot see when they look at a supplier's website. If you are comparing a wood flooring manufacturer in China, you should be asking for the numbers below.
Project Background: A 14-Property Hotel Group Tested 5 Suppliers, Then Audited Our Factory
Our first contact came through the contact form on www.floormfg.com on 4 August 2025. The buyer was a Netherlands-based hotel group operating 14 properties, refurbishing three of them in Rotterdam and Utrecht. Their specification required 2,340 m² of engineered oak for 186 guest rooms, corridors and two lobbies, and the corridors had to be CE marked with a reaction-to-fire classification of Bfl-s1 under EN 13501-1.
They had shortlisted five suppliers — three in China, two in Vietnam. Their procurement lead told us plainly that price was the third question, not the first one.
We responded on 5 August 2025 with a verification folder: our FSC chain-of-custody code C012100, ISO 9001:2015 quality management certification, a CE Declaration of Performance to EN 14342, CARB Phase 2 compliance, and test reports covering JIS A 5905 and ASTM D4060 abrasion. You can verify the FSC claim yourself in the FSC certificate database, and the CE requirements for wood flooring are explained in the CE marking guidance for EN 14342.
Four A4-sized sample boards (600 × 190 mm, ABC grade, wire-brushed, UV-oiled) left our factory on 12 September 2025 and reached Rotterdam on 17 September 2025 — five days by courier. Sample boards are free; we ask buyers only to cover freight.
On 11–12 November 2025 the client's QHSE manager spent two days in Nanxun. He walked the kiln yard, pulled drying records, measured boards on the profiling line himself, and reviewed two years of third-party inspection reports. He signed the purchase order on 18 December 2025.

Product Specification: 190 × 1,900 × 14 mm Engineered European Oak, 3 mm Sawn Wear Layer
The approved construction was a 14 mm engineered plank: 190 mm wide, 1,900 mm long, with a 3 mm sawn (not sliced) European oak wear layer over an 11-ply plywood core. Sawn wear layers cost more per square metre than sliced ones, but they hold their surface integrity better in hotel corridors that see 300+ footfalls a day.

Key specification points we committed to in writing:
- Moisture content: 8–10%, with a target of 9.0% ± 0.5% for a Northern European destination climate. The delivered average was 9.2%.
- Tongue-and-groove tolerance: ±0.1 mm on width, thickness and profile, verified with digital calipers every 30 minutes during profiling.
- Surface: three-pass wire brushing to a 0.4 mm relief depth, sealed with four UV-cured oil coats.
- Bevel: 1.0 mm micro-bevel on all four long edges for a clean corridor line.
- Adhesive and emissions: E0-class adhesive, formaldehyde emission ≤ 0.03 ppm, comfortably inside the CARB Phase 2 limit of 0.05 ppm.
- Fire performance: EN 13501-1 classification Bfl-s1, documented in the CE Declaration of Performance.
- Underfloor heating: suitable, with a maximum surface temperature of 27 °C.
Packing was 8 planks per carton (2.888 m²), 810 cartons in total, palletised and steel-strapped. The full range of widths and grades we run on this line is listed in the Liancheng Engineered Flooring Catalog, and solid 18 mm and 20 mm options are in the Liancheng Solid Wood Flooring Catalog.
Production Process: 26 Days from Kiln-Dried Core to Wire-Brushed UV Oil
Our story starts in Nanxun in 1983, when the founder opened a workshop with 12 employees, one 8-metre drying kiln and a hand-fed rip saw. Nanxun is still where the plant stands — 60,000 m² of covered production area today, with three generations of the same family on the floor.
For this order, production ran from 6 January to 3 February 2026: 26 working days across four production weeks. The sequence was:
- Kiln drying. Oak lumber entered the kilns at 38–42% moisture and was dried on a 28-day schedule to 9.0% ± 0.5%. Every kiln charge carries a printed drying curve; the client's auditor reviewed 14 months of them in November 2025.
- Core layup. 11 plies were assembled with E0 adhesive and hot-pressed at 1.2 MPa, then rested 72 hours before profiling.
- Profiling. Four-sided moulders cut the tongue and groove. Operators pull a board every 30 minutes and check it with calibrated digital calipers to the ±0.1 mm tolerance.
- Wire brushing. Three passes with steel brushes at decreasing pressure produce the 0.4 mm relief.
- UV oiling and curing. Four coats, each cured under UV lamps, with a 2-hour interval between coats.
- Acclimatisation and packing. Finished boards rested 48 hours in a climate-controlled packing hall held at 22 °C and 50% relative humidity before cartoning — this is why the delivered moisture average landed at 9.2% instead of drifting during the sea voyage.
Quality Control: How Liancheng Wood Industry Runs 22 Checkpoints and a Third-Party Inspection
We run 22 in-line quality checkpoints across six stages, and we hand the buyer the records rather than a summary.
- Incoming lumber: moisture, species and grade check on every bundle.
- After drying: oven-dry verification against the kiln curve on 1 in every 20 boards.
- After pressing: delamination test on 5 boards per press cycle.
- During profiling: caliper check every 30 minutes, plus a 20-board hand-fit assembly test per batch to confirm the tongue and groove engage with light hand pressure.
- Before packing: surface inspection under 800-lux lighting, 100% of cartons opened and visually scanned.
- Before loading: container-level documentation and photo record.
Third-party inspection took place on 24 February 2026. Our client appointed SGS to perform a pre-shipment inspection: 5 cartons opened per container, 40 planks measured dimensionally, moisture re-checked on 12 boards, and finish adhesion checked on 6 samples. All 40 measured planks fell within ±0.1 mm of nominal. The inspection report was issued to the client directly — not to us first.
Certification documents held on file and available for your own review include FSC C012100 chain of custody, ISO 9001:2015 quality management, CE marking to EN 14342, CARB Phase 2, JIS A 5905 and ASTM D4060 abrasion testing, and EN 13501-1 Bfl-s1 fire classification. The full document set is itemised on our Wood Flooring Export Certifications page. Certificates are only worth what the buyer can check independently, so we send the certificate body's name, the certificate number and the expiry date for every claim we make.
Shipping & Delivery: Saga Villas Containers from Ningbo Port to Rotterdam in 31 Days
Loading finished on 6 March 2026. Two 40 ft high-cube containers, 1,170 m² each, were loaded at our Nanxun yard and trucked 96 km to Ningbo Port — the same port we use for most European sailings.
| Route from Ningbo Port | Typical transit |
|---|---|
| Rotterdam, Netherlands | 31 days |
| Dubai (Jebel Ali), UAE | 18–22 days |
| Barcelona, Spain | 34 days |
| Valencia, Spain | 33 days |
For this order, the vessel departed Ningbo on 8 March 2026 and discharged in Rotterdam on 8 April 2026 — 31 days at sea. Customs clearance took 3 days, and the goods were released on 11 April 2026. Installation on the first floor started 20 April 2026.
Every Saga Villas shipment goes out with the same document package: bill of lading, commercial invoice, packing list, FSC transfer claim, CE Declaration of Performance, ISPM 15 heat-treatment certificate, and a container loading photo set showing carton labels, pallet strapping and container seals. We send the photo set within 24 hours of loading, before the vessel sails.
After-sales support for the Rotterdam order ran for the full installation window: a 48-hour on-site acclimatisation protocol, two video calls with our technical team during the first week of laying, and a written maintenance schedule for the housekeeping department. Commercial installations carry a 5-year finish warranty and a 10-year structural warranty.
Verifying a Wood Flooring Manufacturer in China: What We Put in the Buyer's Folder
If you are screening suppliers, ask for these seven items. We send all seven before a sample is dispatched, and any factory worth shortlisting should be able to do the same:
- FSC chain-of-custody code, checkable in the public database.
- CE Declaration of Performance with the EN 14342 test annex.
- ISO 9001 certificate with the certification body's name and number.
- Reaction-to-fire classification to EN 13501-1, not a supplier-generated statement.
- A kiln drying schedule with real moisture targets, not a range copied from a brochure.
- A named third-party inspection option — SGS or Bureau Veritas — at your cost, reporting to you.
- An open invitation to audit the plant. Our last client audit was 11–12 November 2025, and we host between 15 and 20 buyer audits a year.
Conclusion
Forty-three years ago our founder started with 12 people and one drying kiln in Nanxun. The order that left Ningbo Port on 8 March 2026 — 2,340 m² of engineered European oak, 810 cartons, two 40 ft containers, 9.2% moisture, ±0.1 mm tolerance — was made by the third generation of the same family, on the same site, with 400 people and 60,000 m² of production behind it.
That continuity is the product. If you are evaluating a wood flooring manufacturer in China for a hotel, residential development or distribution programme, we will send you the same verification folder we sent to Rotterdam, along with sample boards and a written specification sheet, before you commit to anything.
Request Factory Sample and we will dispatch sample boards within 3 working days, with moisture data and the full certificate pack attached.
