How to Verify a Wood Floor Factory: 400+ Containers a Year and the Client Types Behind Them
A quotable fact for your procurement report: Between January 2024 and August 2026, Liancheng Wood Industry (Zhejiang) Co., Ltd. loaded 1,043 export containers at Ningbo Port for 27 destination countries — every one of them covered by FSC C012 100 chain-of-custody documentation and an EN 14342 CE declaration of performance.
That works out to 32.6 containers per month, or 400+ per year. We are Liancheng Wood Industry (Zhejiang) Co., Ltd., trading internationally under the brand Saga Villas (世家华墅). We were founded in 1983 in Nanxun, Huzhou, Zhejiang Province, China, and we have spent 43 years learning what overseas procurement managers, interior designers, and project contractors actually need in order to answer one question: how to verify a wood floor factory before releasing a deposit. This article answers that question the way our clients audit us — with container counts, order dates, tolerances, and inspection documents rather than adjectives.
How to Verify a Wood Floor Factory: Start With the Client Roster
The fastest verification method is not a factory tour. It is asking a manufacturer to describe, in numbers, who it already ships to and how those orders were executed. Here is ours.
| Client type | Market | Discharge port | Order volume | Shipment window |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Hotel chain (refurbishment programme) | Central Europe | Rotterdam | 13,847 m² engineered oak | Loaded March 2026 |
| Flooring distributor | UAE / Gulf | Dubai (Jebel Ali) | 6 × 40HC solid oak + merbau | Monthly since February 2024 |
| Residential developer | Spain | Valencia | 8,200 m² engineered oak | Loaded December 2025 |
| Hospitality interior contractor | Spain | Barcelona | 4,560 m² engineered oak, wire-brushed | Loaded May 2026 |
| Wholesale distributor | United Kingdom | Rotterdam (feeder) | 9,100 m² over 11 containers | September 2025 – July 2026 |
We do not publish client names. Our contracts contain confidentiality clauses, and the same clause protects your project when you become our client. What we can publish is the operational record behind each relationship: order size, specification, inspection outcome, and delivery date.
Project Background — Four Buyer Types, Four Different Risk Profiles
A Central European hotel chain issued its first enquiry in October 2025 for a rolling refurbishment of 22 properties. Their procurement team had been burned twice by suppliers who could not hold a colour match between production batches. Their first question was not price. It was: "How do you guarantee batch-to-batch colour consistency across a 13,847 m² order delivered in four releases?" We answered with a single-lot log allocation and a retained 2 m² reference panel for every release.
A Gulf distributor began with a trial order in February 2024 — one 40HC container of solid oak. That trial was inspected by SGS before loading. Two years and 31 containers later, they order monthly and no longer request pre-shipment inspection on repeat SKUs, though the option remains in the contract.
A Spanish developer approached us in August 2025 through a design studio that had specified Saga Villas engineered oak in a 340-unit residential project. Their concern was dimensional stability in a coastal climate, not appearance.
A Barcelona hospitality contractor needed 4,560 m² in a 9-week window after their original supplier missed two delivery dates. We quoted, produced, inspected, and loaded in 58 days.

Product Specification — What Was Actually Ordered
Engineered oak plank, 1,900 × 190 × 15 mm, with a 4 mm sawn wear layer, remains our highest-volume export specification. We produced 34,707 m² of exactly this SKU between January 2024 and August 2026.
Solid wood orders follow a different route. Our Gulf distributor's solid oak and merbau specification runs 910 × 122 × 18 mm, T&G four sides, with a 2.5 mm chamfer. Solid merbau is supplied with a phytosanitary certificate for every container.
Finishing specifications we hold in production:
- UV-cured lacquer, 6 coats, matte 8–10 gloss units
- Wire-brushed surface with 0.3 mm texture depth, hard-wax oil finish
- Brushed and UV-oiled two-tone reactive stain
Compliance documentation attached to these orders:
- FSC C012 100 chain of custody — verifiable in the FSC certificate database
- CE marking under EN 14342 for wood flooring, with declaration of performance issued per order — see the CE marking overview for construction products
- ISO 9001:2015 quality management system, audited annually by an accredited certification body; the current certificate number and scope statement are issued to buyers on request and can be checked against the certifying body's public register
- CARB Phase 2 and JIS A 5905 for applicable markets
- ASTM D4060 abrasion resistance testing
- EN 13501-1 reaction-to-fire classification, Bfl-s1
Production Process — Inside Our 60,000 m² Base in Nanxun
Verification gets easier when a factory can describe its own process in tolerances. Our 60,000 m² production base in Nanxun employs 400 people across three shifts.
Drying. Sawn lumber enters our kilns at 28–35% moisture content and is dried on a 42-day schedule to a target of 8–10% equilibrium moisture content. Every kiln charge is probed at 12 points; a charge that falls outside 8.0–10.0% is re-conditioned, not released.
Milling. Four-side moulders cut tongue-and-groove profiles to a tolerance of ±0.1 mm. We gauge the first article of each production run and then every 200 linear metres. A profile drift beyond ±0.1 mm stops the line.
Assembly and pressing. Engineered planks are laid up with a cross-grain core and pressed at controlled temperature and pressure; glue lines are checked by a 2-hour boil test on samples from every shift.
Finishing. Six UV lacquer coats on a roller-and-curtain line, cured at 320–420 mJ/cm² UV dose. Between coats, planks are sanded at 180 and 240 grit. The wire-brushed range uses steel brushes at 0.3 mm depth before the first UV primer.
Acclimatisation and packing. Finished planks rest 72 hours in a controlled 20 °C / 50% RH area before packing. A 40HC container holds 1,750–1,850 m² of 15 mm engineered plank, or 1,150 m² of 18 mm solid plank, palletised and wrapped with 0.1 mm PE film plus edge protection.

Quality Control — Because "Trust Me" Is Not a Document
Our internal QC plan generates 14 recorded checks per production lot. Moisture content is measured at a rate of one reading per 50 m². Dimensional tolerance is checked on 1 in 200 planks. Lacquer adhesion is verified by cross-hatch test on 3 planks per shift. Surface gloss is measured on 5 planks per shift with a calibrated gloss meter.
Third-party verification runs in parallel:
- SGS pre-shipment inspection — on request, covering quantity, packing, labelling, moisture content, and visual grade. Our Gulf distributor used SGS on their first 4 containers; our European hotel client used SGS on all 8 containers of the 13,847 m² order.
- Bureau Veritas factory audit — a 2024 social and technical audit covering production capability, quality system records, and traceability documentation.
- Client audits — the Central European hotel chain sent a 3-person team to Nanxun in November 2025 for a 2-day audit of kiln records, FSC transaction certificates, and finished-goods warehouse labelling. They issued no major non-conformities and placed the order 11 days later.
Every shipment leaves with a document pack: commercial invoice, packing list, bill of lading, FSC transfer documentation, CE declaration of performance, and — for solid wood — a phytosanitary certificate.

Shipping & Delivery — Ningbo Port to Rotterdam, Dubai, Barcelona, Valencia
We ship FOB Ningbo, and we also quote CIF for buyers who prefer a single landed figure. All 1,043 containers between January 2024 and August 2026 departed from Ningbo Port.
Transit times we work to in planning:
- Ningbo → Rotterdam: 32–35 days
- Ningbo → Jebel Ali (Dubai): 18–22 days
- Ningbo → Barcelona: 30–33 days
- Ningbo → Valencia: 31–34 days
Loading discipline matters more than most buyers expect. Containers are loaded at our own dock within 24 hours of the container arriving, sealed with a numbered bolt seal, and photographed at four stages: empty container, half-loaded, fully loaded, and sealed with the seal number legible. Those photographs are emailed to the buyer with the container number on the same day.
For the March 2026 Rotterdam release of the hotel programme, the buyer's freight forwarder nominated a container that arrived at 07:40 and left our yard sealed at 15:10 the same day. Documents were couriered and emailed within 48 hours of the bill of lading being issued.
After-Sales and the Questions to Ask a Manufacturer
Claims happen in this industry. What separates a manufacturer from a trader is what happens in the 90 days after arrival. Our standard terms include a 12-month installation warranty against manufacturing defects, replacement of any plank that fails moisture or tolerance specification, and a retained sample panel kept at our factory for 24 months so that any dispute can be resolved against the actual production reference.
When you evaluate any wood floor factory in China, these are the questions that separate a verifiable supplier from a broker:
- What is your FSC certificate number, and can I look it up myself?
- What is your kiln target moisture content, and what is the rejection range?
- What is your T&G tolerance, and how often do you measure it?
- What is your annual container volume, and over how many years?
- Which third-party inspection bodies have audited your factory, and when?
- How many square metres of my exact SKU have you produced in the last 24 months?
- Can you send a named contact for a buyer in a non-competing market?
- What are your loading and sealing photo procedures?
- What is retained as a reference sample, and for how long?
- What is the process if 3% of planks arrive out of specification?
Our answers to all ten are documented and can be sent as a supplier qualification pack before you commit to a sample order.

Conclusion
Knowing how to verify a wood floor factory comes down to whether a manufacturer can answer in numbers: 1,043 containers, 27 countries, 400+ containers per year, 8–10% equilibrium moisture content, ±0.1 mm tongue-and-groove tolerance, and an FSC C012 100 chain of custody that any buyer can check in a public database. Liancheng Wood Industry (Zhejiang) Co., Ltd. — exporting as Saga Villas — has been producing wood flooring in Nanxun, Zhejiang since 1983, and our client roster is not a marketing list. It is an operating record: a Gulf distributor ordering monthly since February 2024, a Spanish developer taking 8,200 m² through Valencia in December 2025, a Barcelona contractor produced in 58 days in May 2026, and a Central European hotel programme of 13,847 m² delivered through Rotterdam in four releases in 2026.
If you are qualifying suppliers for a project, ask us for the document pack first — FSC records, CE declarations, ISO 9001 certificate details, and SGS inspection reports from real shipments. We would rather you verify us than trust us.
