Zero Claims on 412 Export Containers: Liancheng Wood Industry's Wood Flooring Packaging Playbook for European Distributors and Gulf Hotel Contractors
Between March 2025 and February 2026, our factory shipped 412 export containers of engineered and solid wood flooring to 19 countries — and filed zero cargo-damage insurance claims. No replacement pallets were air-freighted. No credit notes were issued for transit damage. That single number is what we hand to procurement managers when they ask whether a Chinese wood flooring factory can deliver 13,847 m² on schedule and intact.
We are Liancheng Wood Industry (Zhejiang) Co., Ltd., trading internationally as Saga Villas. Our factory sits in Nanxun, Huzhou, Zhejiang Province — founded in 1983, 43 years in business, 400 employees and a 60,000 m² production base. This article explains exactly how our wood flooring packaging is engineered, layer by layer, so that buyers, designers and project contractors can judge whether the process behind the carton is real.

Project Background: A 13,847 m² Hotel Order Bound for Dubai
On 04 August 2025 we received a tender package from a Gulf-based flooring distributor working on a hotel refurbishment in Dubai: 318 guest rooms, corridor runs, and two ballrooms. The distributor had previously taken a shipment from another supplier where 340 m² of planks arrived with cupped edges and crushed corners. They were not shopping on price. They were shopping for a packing method.
The route is brutal on wood. Ningbo to Jebel Ali runs 19 days, with container roof temperatures above 65°C in direct sun and relative humidity swinging between 35% and 90% during the monsoon transition. A 40'HQ loaded with our engineered oak weighs 20,300 kg gross, and the bottom-tier pallets carry 640 kg each. Corrugation failure, not wood failure, is what destroys flooring in transit.

Product Specification: What Went Into the Container
The specification is deliberately narrow, because every variable we remove from the product reduces a variable in the packaging.

Certification documents travel with every shipment. Our FSC chain-of-custody code is FSC C012 100, which any buyer can verify independently in the FSC public certificate database. Production Process: Inside the Saga Villas Wood Flooring Packaging Line
This is the part most suppliers will not show you. Here is ours.
Step 1 — Moisture verification before anything else. Flooring sits in a conditioning room at 22°C and 55% RH for 48 hours before packing. A calibrated pin-type meter takes 12 readings per bundle, at both ends and the centre plank of each stack. Any bundle reading outside 8–10% equilibrium moisture content returns to conditioning for another 48 hours. In October 2025, 3 of 218 bundles on the Dubai order were rejected and re-conditioned. That is a normal ratio for us.
Step 2 — Carton construction. We use 5-ply AB-flute corrugated board with an edge crush test rating of 32 lb/in. Inside the carton, a 0.08 mm PE moisture barrier liner wraps the bundle, and 5 mm honeycomb board end caps protect both plank ends. Off-the-shelf single-wall cartons are roughly 40% cheaper and are why so many containers arrive with crushed corners.
Step 3 — Palletising. Pallets are 2,200 × 1,100 mm plywood block pallets, ISPM 15 heat-treated to a 56°C core temperature for 30 minutes and stamped accordingly — no fumigation chemicals, no hold-ups at European ports. Each pallet carries 64 cartons: 138.6 m² of flooring, 1,160 mm tall including the deck, 640 kg gross.
Step 4 — Strapping and wrapping. Every pallet gets four vertical and two horizontal polypropylene straps, 19 mm × 0.8 mm, with an 800 kg breaking load, applied over 5 mm angle board on all four vertical edges. The whole pallet is then shrink-hooded in 23 micron film. The angle board is what stops the strap from cutting into the bottom carton when the pallet is lifted.
Step 5 — Container preparation. Before a single pallet goes in, we line the container floor and side walls with two layers of kraft paper and hang 24 × 1 kg calcium chloride desiccant bags — at the door end and along both side walls. A 40'HQ of kiln-dried oak can release a surprising volume of moisture across a 19-day voyage; the desiccant is not decoration.
Step 6 — Loading and blocking. Twenty pallets go into each 40'HQ, double-stacked with a 40 mm plywood separator board between tiers. Six 900 × 1,200 mm dunnage airbags are inflated to 0.2 bar at the door end and between pallet rows. Two 2,200 mm timber braces are nailed across the door end and a gate guard is fitted. Forklift tyres are checked before loading — we do not accept metal-on-metal contact with pallets.

Quality Control: How Liancheng Wood Industry Verifies Every Pallet Before Loading
We do not self-certify. On the Dubai order, SGS attended our factory on 13–14 October 2025 for a pre-shipment inspection covering 12 checkpoints: moisture content, dimensional tolerance, surface finish, colour consistency against the approved sample, carton compression, strap tension, pallet stamping, desiccant count, and container condition. Loading supervision followed on 16–17 October, with 148 photographs recorded across the five 40'HQ containers — one image per pallet face, one per container door, and one per desiccant placement.
Each container also carries a data logger recording relative humidity every 30 minutes. On this shipment the maximum recorded interior humidity was 58% RH, against a target ceiling of 60%. That figure is shared with the client, not kept internally.
Separately, in November 2025 a European distributor's technical team spent two days in Nanxun auditing our production line — their own audit, their own checklist, no notice given on which bundles they would open. They approved the factory and placed a 4,200 m² trial order the following month.
Shipping & Delivery: Ningbo to Jebel Ali, Rotterdam, Barcelona and Valencia

The Dubai order moved as five 40'HQ containers, 100 pallets, 6,400 cartons. The distributor's receiving team opened all five containers on arrival and inspected every pallet: zero damaged cartons, zero cupped planks, zero dimensional rejections, and zero insurance claims. Installation completed 12 December 2025 — 43 days after vessel departure.
Across the 412 containers we shipped between March 2025 and February 2026, that pattern held. We have not filed a cargo-damage insurance claim since we standardised this packaging line, and we publish the container count rather than an adjective.
Conclusion: What to Ask Your Wood Flooring Supplier About Packaging
If you are qualifying a factory, ask for five numbers before you ask for a price: equilibrium moisture content at packing (should be 8–10%), carton edge crush test rating, pallet type and ISPM 15 treatment status, desiccant quantity per container, and whether the supplier provides third-party loading supervision. A supplier who cannot answer all five is guessing at your risk.
